Are you a guy who often feels anxious, empty, or out of control? Do you get angry with loved ones? Or, the opposite, do you stonewall them? Do you feel like you have to “hold it together” but sometimes feel like your life is slipping apart? Are you having difficulty in relationships at home or work? Has someone suggested you get help? Counseling can help lighten the load and make life’s challenges easier to handle.
It takes courage to see a counselor. Many other men have. It can help to talk to someone outside your house, who you aren’t living with or parenting with, to vent and get some space to think through important decisions in your life.
Male pressures
Many men come to counseling to help sort out some of the pressures they are under. It can help you think more clearly, and act more calmly. Other reasons guys come in are because they want to:
- relieve tension and stress
- make better decisions
- get along better with their wife and kids
- discuss fears about the present and future
- gain a better understanding about why they do certain things
- learn to be assertive about their needs
Individual therapy is a one-on-one meeting with a therapist to discuss and resolve problems.
Does anybody need to know I am coming to see you?
Confidentiality and privacy are extremely important and taken very seriously. It is up to you who knows or doesn’t know that you are coming to counseling.
